Job Summary
The Senior Academic Coordinator for Middle Grades is responsible for providing academic leadership and operational oversight for Grades VI–VIII. The role ensures effective implementation of the CBSE curriculum, supports teacher development, monitors student achievement, and promotes a positive learning environment aligned with the school's vision, and CBSE guidelines. The coordinator acts as the bridge between school leadership, teachers, students, and parents to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities1. Academic Leadership
- Lead the planning, implementation, and review of the CBSE curriculum for Grades VI–VIII.
- Ensure timely completion of syllabus and adherence to annual academic plans.
- Monitor lesson plans, classroom instruction, and assessment practices.
- Drive innovative, experiential, competency-based, and differentiated teaching strategies.
2. Teacher Management & Development
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Mentor, coach, and evaluate teachers to improve instructional effectiveness.
- Identify training needs and organize professional development sessions.
- Support induction and orientation of newly recruited teachers.
- Foster collaboration through departmental meetings and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
3. Student Achievement & Well-being
- Monitor student academic progress through data analysis.
- Develop intervention plans for struggling learners and enrichment opportunities for high achievers.
- Promote student discipline, well-being, and holistic development.
- Coordinate academic competitions, Olympiads, clubs, and enrichment programs.
4. Assessment & Examination
- Plan and oversee unit tests, periodic assessments, term examinations, and result analysis.
- Ensure quality and moderation of question papers and assessment tools.
- Maintain accurate academic records and progress reports.
- Analyze performance trends and recommend improvement strategies.
5. Parent & Stakeholder Engagement
- Conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
- Address academic concerns raised by parents.
- Build strong partnerships with parents to support student learning.
- Communicate academic initiatives and expectations effectively.
6. Academic Administration
- Prepare academic calendars, timetables, and examination schedules.
- Coordinate substitute arrangements and teacher workload.
- Maintain curriculum documents, lesson plans, and compliance records.
- Prepare academic reports for school leadership.
7. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to CBSE norms and school policies.
- Monitor documentation required for inspections and audits.
- Support accreditation and quality assurance initiatives.
- Implement continuous improvement plans based on academic data.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8–12 years of teaching experience in a CBSE school.
- Minimum 3–5 years in an academic leadership role (Coordinator/HOD/Academic Lead).
- Strong knowledge of CBSE curriculum, assessment practices, and NEP 2020 implementation.
