About CRA
CRA is an engineering company with over 30 years of experience delivering custom-engineered systems to the Energy and Defence sectors. We design and manufacture robust, high-performance solutions including combustion systems, biogas processing packages, gas flaring systems, thermal oxidizers, and defence-grade weapon handling equipment.
Everything we build is manufactured in-house, from mechanical fabrication to assembly and testing, enabling us to serve some of the most demanding industrial and military applications worldwide.
Our manufacturing operations span two facilities in the NCR region and are supported by in-house Design, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Production, and Projects teams.
As we continue to scale, we are strengthening our operational leadership while implementing ERP, ISO 9001, and AS9100D systems to build a world-class manufacturing organization.
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated P&ID Designer / Draughtsman to own the drafting and documentation of Diagrams for custom-engineered process equipment projects across the Energy and Defence sectors. This role works closely with Process and Mechanical Engineers, converting their process logic and redline markups into accurate, standards-compliant, construction-ready drawings. This is a dedicated drafting role - the ideal candidate brings strong CAD/drafting expertise and P&ID domain knowledge.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Prepare, revise, and maintain P&IDs based on Process Engineer redlines, PFDs, and client specifications.
-
Ensure correct application of P&ID symbols, line numbering, tag numbering, and valve/instrument conventions per project and international standards (ISA, ISO).
-
Maintain and update line lists, valve lists, and instrument indexes in parallel with drawing revisions.
-
Manage drawing revision control across 30%/60%/90% and IFC (Issued for Construction) stages.
-
Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, and Piping teams to ensure consistency across all engineering deliverables.
-
Support HAZOP reviews by ensuring P&IDs are complete, legible, and review-ready ahead of scheduled studies.
-
Flag inconsistencies or errors between P&IDs, PFDs, and equipment datasheets before issue.
-
Maintain drawing standards, templates, and title-block conventions specific to CRA projects.
-
Support vendor package P&ID reviews and incorporation of vendor-supplied skid drawings.
Requirements
-
2-4 years of dedicated P&ID / piping drafting experience in a process equipment, EPC, or plant engineering environment.
-
Hands-on proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D (preferred); familiarity with AVEVA Diagrams / SmartPlant P&ID is an advantage.
-
Proficiency in 2D P&ID drafting is essential; 3D modeling experience is a plus.
-
Solid working knowledge of P&ID conventions, instrumentation symbology, and piping class basics.
-
Experience managing drawings through multiple review stages (30/60/90%, IFC) on live projects.
-
Prior exposure to Energy sector equipment (skids, pressure vessels, heat exchangers) preferred; Defence-sector documentation rigor is a plus.
-
Ability to work independently from engineer sketches/redlines with minimal supervision.
-
Strong attention to detail - this role is the last line of accuracy before drawings go for HAZOP or fabrication.
-
Must be well-versed in recognized P&ID design and drafting standards and able to apply them consistently across projects
Benefits
-
Direct exposure to high-value custom equipment projects across Energy and Defence
-
Ownership of a newly-created, high-visibility role with scope to shape drafting standards
-
Collaborative environment with Process, Mechanical, and Project Engineering leads
-
Performance-linked annual appraisal and incentives
-
Health insurance covering immediate family, not just the employee
