Our organization is dedicated to addressing critical issues faced by marginalized communities through comprehensive health, crisis intervention, mental health, and sustainable livelihood programs.
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and resilient Counsellor to provide vital mental health support and psychosocial intervention to women in sex work.
As a self-starter, you will not just deliver traditional desk counseling—you will take strong personal initiative to engage directly with the community, build trust in field settings, and design tailored psychological interventions for trauma, crisis, and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Psychological & Crisis Intervention
- Conduct one-on-one and group counseling sessions for community members facing trauma, domestic violence, distress, and mental health challenges.
- Assess psychological needs and co-create trauma-informed coping strategies and personalized care plans.
- Facilitate interactive mental health awareness workshops, stress management sessions, and psycho-education activities in community pockets.
Fieldwork & Community Outreach (Crucial Requirement)
- Active Field Visits: Conduct regular, hands-on site visits and field interactions at project locations across Malvani (Malad) and Grant Road areas in Mumbai and Bhiwandi, and Dombivli in Thane district.
- Take proactive initiative to build rapport with community leaders, peer outreach workers, and crisis management teams on the ground.
- Identify high-risk or isolated individuals who require urgent mental health support or crisis intervention.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Case Tracking
- Collaborate with local healthcare providers, legal support teams, and social workers to ensure a seamless, holistic referral pathway for clients.
- Maintain strict client confidentiality while keeping accurate, organized case documentation and progress trackers.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Counseling Psychology.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in psychological counseling, preferably working with marginalized or vulnerable communities.
- Mindset: High level of self-initiative, ownership, and adaptability. You should be comfortable navigating dynamic field environments and solving problems independently.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English, Hindi and Marathi is highly preferred to communicate effectively with field communities.
- Interpersonal Skills: Deep empathy, active listening, non-judgmental attitude, and strong crisis-handling capabilities.
- Strong proficiency in documentation, report writing, case history recording, and maintaining client registers/trackers
Key Work Details
