JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Manager

Function: Projects – Automotive plastic interiors and exteriors

Job Purpose:

To lead, plan, execute and deliver automotive plastic interior component programs (IP, Console, Door - Trims, Air vents etc.) from RFQ to SOP, ensuring timing, quality, cost, and performance targets are met as per OEM expectations and internal processes (APQP/IATF).

Reporting To: Director / Plant head

Principal Accountabilities:

Program/Project Planning
- - Create and manage the Project Timing Plan (Gantt/MPP) aligned with OEM milestones (Gate reviews).
- - Prepare APQP project plans, risk assessments, and mitigation actions.
- - Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Design, Tooling, Manufacturing, Quality, SCM)
Customer Interface
- - Act as the single point of contact for OEM project teams.
- - Conduct customer meetings, design reviews, and project status reviews.
- - Manage engineering change requests, approvals, and communication flow.
Product & Process Development
- - Oversee DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM/A, and ensure team follows APQP guidelines.
- - Monitor design release, prototype development, tooling kick-off, and validation.
- - Ensure successful tool trials (T0, T1, T2…), design validation (DV/PV), and testing.
Cost & Budget Control
- - Track project financials including tooling cost, piece cost, and investments.
- - Lead cost optimization / VA-VE activities.
- - Prevent cost overruns through proper scope control and change management.
Quality & Compliance
- - Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, and OEM-specific requirements.
- - Drive timely completion of PPAP/PSW submissions.
- - Ensure internal quality gates and documentation are properly completed.
Tooling & Supplier Management
- - Coordinate with tooling suppliers for tool design, manufacturing, tryouts.
- - Track supplier delivery, quality status, and ensure handover to production.
- - Manage the industrialization phase including process setup and capability (Cp/Cpk).
SOP Readiness & Launch
- - Ensure readiness of production line (fixtures, gauges, packaging).
- - Conduct plant trials, pilot builds, and support SOP for stable ramp-up.
- - Drive lessons learnt, closing all open points before handover to production.

Skills & Competencies:

Technical Skills like;
- - understanding of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plan etc.
- - Familiarity with OEM processes (Tata, Mahindra, VW, Stellantis, Hyundai etc.).
Project management skills like;
- - Project planning tools (MS Project, Excel Gantt, PLM tools)
- - Risk management, problem solving

Soft skills like;

Experience and Qualifications:

BE/B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, Polymer, or Production Engineering
6-12 yrs. experience in automotive plastic interior parts.
Minimum 3–5 yrs. in project/program management for Tier-1
Experience handling at least 1-2 full-life-cycle projects (RFQ SOP)

KPIs (Key Performance Indicators):

Delivery of project milestones as per timeline.
PPAP approval on time.
Cost adherence and savings achieved.
Customer satisfaction score.
Zero major quality issues during launch.
Successful and stable SOP within target PPM
