Job Title: Consultant Radiologist

Job Summary
The Consultant Radiologist will be responsible for providing accurate, timely, and clinically relevant diagnostic imaging services for women, pregnant patients, fetuses, newborns, and pediatric patients. The role will primarily involve obstetric and gynecological ultrasound, fetal imaging, pediatric imaging, and other diagnostic modalities available at the hospital. The consultant will work closely with obstetricians, gynecologists, pediatricians, neonatologists, and other specialists to support diagnosis and patient management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret obstetric and gynecological ultrasound examinations.
- Conduct pregnancy scans including early pregnancy, dating, viability, NT, anomaly, growth, and fetal well-being assessments as per clinical indication and qualification.
- Perform fetal imaging and targeted anomaly scans and identify abnormalities requiring further evaluation.
- Perform Doppler studies including obstetric/fetal Doppler when indicated.
- Perform and interpret pelvic, abdominal, breast, thyroid, and other relevant ultrasound examinations.
- Evaluate gynecological conditions such as uterine, ovarian, adnexal, and pelvic abnormalities.
- Perform and interpret pediatric and neonatal imaging, including ultrasound, X-ray, and other modalities within the consultant's expertise.
- Interpret pediatric chest, abdominal, skeletal, and emergency imaging studies.
- Report CT and MRI examinations where available and within the consultant's qualifications and expertise.
- Review clinical history and correlate imaging findings with clinical information.
- Communicate significant or urgent findings promptly to the treating obstetrician, gynecologist, pediatrician, or neonatologist.
- Provide appropriate recommendations for further imaging, specialist consultation, or follow-up when clinically indicated.
- Ensure accurate, comprehensive, and timely radiology reporting.
- Maintain proper patient identification, documentation, consent, and confidentiality.
- Follow radiation-safety principles, particularly for pregnant patients and children.
- Ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed to minimize radiation exposure in pediatric patients.
- Coordinate with radiographers, sonographers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for efficient patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions when required.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and patient safety.
- Participate in quality-assurance programs, audits, peer reviews, and departmental improvement initiatives.
- Keep updated with current advances in women's imaging, fetal medicine, pediatric radiology, and diagnostic imaging.
- Provide guidance and support to junior doctors and radiology/technical staff where required.
