Senior Social Science Teacher (Classes 1–6)
Job Summary:
Curriculum: CBSE & Cambridge
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Social Science Teacher for Classes 1 to 6, with expertise in CBSE and Cambridge curriculum. The ideal candidate should have strong subject knowledge in Social Studies (History, Geography, Civics), the ability to connect concepts with real-world contexts, and experience in fostering inquiry-based, analytical, and critical thinking skills among students.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Academic Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Social Science lessons aligned with CBSE and Cambridge frameworks
- Teach core subjects: History, Geography, Civics, and Environmental Studies
- Encourage conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and real-world application
- Implement inquiry-based and interdisciplinary learning approaches (especially for Cambridge)
- Use maps, case studies, projects, and digital tools to enhance learning
- Prepare lesson plans, worksheets, presentations, and learning materials
Curriculum & Assessment
- Design assessments as per CBSE examination patterns and Cambridge assessment criteria
- Conduct formative and summative assessments, projects, and research-based tasks
- Support students in internal assessments, presentations, and reflective work (Cambridge)
- Differentiate instruction for mixed-ability classrooms
- Track student performance and maintain academic records
- Identify learning gaps and provide remedial support
Student Development
- Foster global awareness, cultural understanding, and civic responsibility
- Encourage discussion, debate, and independent thinking
- Promote research skills and curiosity about the world
- Create an inclusive and respectful classroom environment
- Mentor students academically and personally
Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject coordinators and academic leadership
- Participate in curriculum development and academic planning
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, and training programs
- Conduct and attend parent-teacher meetings
- Contribute to school events, exhibitions, and projects
- Ensure adherence to school policies and child safety norms
Required Qualifications:
Mandatory: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science / Humanities / Education (B.A / B.Ed or equivalent)
Preferred: Master’s Degree (M.A / M.Ed)
IB Training / Certification
CTET or equivalent (for CBSE schools)
Experience:
- Minimum 2-4 years of teaching experience in Social Science
- Proven experience teaching Classes 1-6
- Experience with CBSE and/or Cambridge curriculum
- Strong background in lesson planning, assessments, and student engagement
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong subject knowledge across History, Geography, and Civics
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Ability to make concepts engaging, relatable, and easy to understand
- Proficiency in smart boards, digital tools, and teaching aids
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Student-centric and adaptable teaching approach
