About Partao
Partao is building the global marketplace for heavy-machinery parts — a single platform that connects buyers and sellers across the industry. With 2,000+ brands and more than 5 million SKUs, we make sourcing faster, smarter, and more reliable by helping people find the exact part that fits their machine.
We're focused on doing the right things well — first. That means building something useful, something real, with impact that lasts. If you want to be part of a fast-moving team shaping a marketplace at global scale, Partao is the place to do it.
About the Role
We're hiring a Sourcing / Procurement Analyst to own one of the most critical functions at Partao: Find My Part.
This role sits at the frontline of our marketplace. You'll source parts that customers can't find anywhere else, whether highly specific, backordered, or not yet available through our existing suppliers. Because so much of what we source is agricultural and heavy-machinery equipment, understanding how these machines are built and how their parts function is a real advantage — it's the difference between sourcing "a hydraulic pump" and sourcing the hydraulic pump that fits.
You'll drive sourcing decisions independently, manage a growing supplier portfolio, and improve how the function runs as you go.
This is a hands-on, ownership-heavy role for someone with a mechanical engineering background and a few years of sourcing or procurement experience who's ready to run their own patch without needing close direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Find My Part pipeline: sourcing hard-to-find, customer-requested parts from verified vendors or by identifying and onboarding new ones.
- Use technical knowledge of machinery systems (hydraulics, drivetrains, engines, attachments) to correctly identify part specifications, compatible substitutes, and cross-references when exact parts aren't available.
- Build out vendor pipelines to ensure reliable coverage across categories and reduce reliance on one-off sourcing.
- Negotiate pricing, lead time, and terms directly with suppliers to secure the best outcome for each request.
- Compare supplier offers across price, lead time, reliability, and technical fit, and make the call on trade-offs.
- Build and manage a growing portfolio of suppliers within your category.
- Work closely with Customer Service to keep customers informed and resolve issues quickly, including translating technical part details into clear customer communication.
- Own the accuracy and quality of the supplier and order data within your scope.
- Spot patterns in repeat requests and turn one-off sourcing into reusable supply.
- Lead supplier onboarding and keep supplier databases current and reliable.
- Recommend and help implement improvements to how the team sources, validates, and fulfils hard-to-find parts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related technical field) required.
- Experience within agricultural or heavy machinery
- Experience in procurement, sourcing, category operations, or a commercial operations role.
- Working knowledge of machinery systems (hydraulics, engines, transmissions, attachments)
- Comfortable negotiating with suppliers and asking the direct commercial questions.
- Strong problem-solving mindset; you take ownership when the answer isn't obvious.
- Commercial curiosity: you care about pricing, lead times, and supplier trade-offs.
- Data-driven, confident working with spreadsheets and analysis to support sourcing and negotiation decisions.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple requests in parallel without heavy oversight.
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken). A European language is a plus.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
Bonus Points
- Hands-on experience with agricultural machinery
- Exposure to marketplaces, e-commerce, or B2B platforms.
- Comfort speaking with suppliers
- Ability to spot patterns in repeat requests and turn one-off sourcing into reusable supply.
- A natural bias for action
