We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to join our Cupronickel Department, Mechanical Maintenance team in the role of Shift in charge.
Job Purpose
To ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operation of plant mechanical equipment during the assigned shift by leading maintenance activities, troubleshooting breakdowns, implementing preventive maintenance practices, managing departmental inventory, and coordinating with production and other support departments while adhering to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shift Supervision & Execution
- Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance activities during the assigned shift.
- Allocate tasks to technicians and ensure adherence to maintenance plan.
- Ensure breakdowns are attended promptly and effectively to minimize downtime.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance as per the defined schedule.
- Monitor equipment health and escalate abnormalities to higher management.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities in SAP.
3. Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical & Hydraulic issues related to rolling mills, slitting lines, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, and other rotating/static equipment.
- Provide technical guidance to the team for effective problem-solving.
4. Inventory & Store Management
- Manage the inventory of the departmental internal sub-store to ensure optimum availability of critical spares, consumables, and tools.
- Track fast-moving and slow-moving spares to prevent stock-outs during critical breakdowns and minimize shift delays.
5. Quality Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain and update basic ISO documents (such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001) related to shift maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with 5S practices within the maintenance shop and departmental sub-store.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
- Ensure that maintenance work follows HIRA, LOTO, and other safety protocols.
- Promote a safe working culture among team members.
7. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with production and other departments for maintenance activities.
- Report shift performance, breakdown analysis (MTTR/MTBF), and maintenance activities to the Mechanical Maintenance In-charge.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5-10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing industry (Steel / Automobile preferred).
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive & corrective maintenance practices.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of SAP system for maintenance reporting and material management (MM module preferred).
- Basic knowledge of ISO documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and 5S methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
- Safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
