Job Summary
The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing, transfusions, or research. The role requires precision, strong patient interaction skills, and strict adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Draw blood from patients using venipuncture or capillary methods
- Verify patient identity and label specimens accurately
- Prepare blood samples for laboratory testing
- Maintain sterile equipment and follow infection control procedures
- Ensure patient comfort and address concerns during procedures
- Record patient information and test details accurately in records or systems
- Dispose of biohazard materials according to regulations
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a certified phlebotomy training program
- Phlebotomy certification (as required by state or employer)
- Knowledge of venipuncture techniques and medical terminology

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
