Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Milling Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual milling machines to shape metal, plastic, or other materials to precise specifications.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read complex blueprints, and a deep commitment to safety and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Machine Setup & Operation: Prepare and position raw materials into milling machines. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and job specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
- Quality Control: Monitor the machining process and measure finished parts using precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure they meet exact specifications.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance on machines, such as checking fluid levels and replacing worn inserts or cutters. Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions.
- Process Optimization: Adjust machine speeds, feeds, and coolant flow to optimize the cutting process and prevent material damage or tool wear.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
Key Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills
- Machining Expertise: Proven experience operating manual milling machines or CNC mills.
- Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to interpret mechanical drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
- Measurement Tools: Proficiency with precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
- Mathematical Competency: Solid understanding of basic shop math, geometry, and trigonometry for calculating dimensions and tolerances.
Soft Skills & Physical Requirements
- Attention to Detail: High precision and focus required to maintain tight tolerances and minimize material waste.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to detect defects and diagnose mechanical issues on the fly.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials or tooling (often up to 50 lbs).
Preferred Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical school certificate or completion of an apprenticeship is highly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years experience.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
