JOB DESCRIPTION – MW ENGINEER (TUMBLEWEED)

ROLE SUMMARY
The Associate Professional Middleware Engineer specializing in Tumbleweed manages enterprise secure file transfer and managed file transfer (MFT) infrastructure. This role ensures reliable, secure, and compliant file exchange between internal systems and external partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer and manage Tumbleweed (Axway) MFT platform for secure B2B and internal file transfers
- Configure and manage trading partner profiles, file transfer agreements, and protocol settings (SFTP, FTPS, AS2, HTTPS)
- Monitor file transfer jobs, manage failures, and ensure SLA compliance for critical file exchanges
- Implement security policies including PGP encryption, certificate management, and access controls
- Troubleshoot file transfer errors, connectivity issues, and partner-facing integration problems
- Perform Tumbleweed platform upgrades, patch deployments, and environment health checks
- Collaborate with business and IT teams to onboard new file transfer use cases and partners
- Maintain audit trails, compliance documentation, and file transfer operational runbooks
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 7-10 years of middleware/infrastructure experience with 3+ years in MFT/secure file transfer platforms
- Hands-on experience with Tumbleweed or Axway Secure Transport/Gateway for B2B file transfers
- Knowledge of secure file transfer protocols: SFTP, FTPS, AS2, HTTPS, and EDI
- Experience with PGP key management and certificate lifecycle management
- Unix/Linux administration and scripting skills (Shell, Python)
- Understanding of EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT) and B2B integration concepts
- Knowledge of compliance requirements for file transfer (SOX, PCI-DSS, HIPAA)
GOOD TO HAVE
- Experience with Axway API Gateway or IBM Sterling B2B Integrator
- Knowledge of cloud-based MFT solutions (GoAnywhere, Globalscape EFT)
- Exposure to automation of file transfer workflows using scripting or RPA
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Relevant MFT or file transfer security certifications are advantageous
