· Bill of Materials (BOM) Analysis: Reviewing engineering drawings and BOMs issued by the design or planning department to identify material requirements (e.g., specific grades of plates, structural steel, pipes, welding consumables). -
· Raw Material Procurement: Sourcing structural steel (beams, channels, angles), plates (Mild Steel, Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum), and specialized items.
· Welding Consumables & Tools: Managing the regular supply of welding wires, electrodes, shielding gases grinding wheels, and cutting tools.
· Bought-out Items: Procuring outsourced components like fasteners, flanges, valves, or specialized machined parts required for final assembly.
· Vendor Identification: Identifying and evaluating reliable suppliers, steel stockists, and specialized machining vendors.
· Vendor Audits: Conducting periodic assessments of vendors based on quality, financial stability, and delivery capabilities.
· Rate Contracts: Establishing long-term rate contracts for high-volume items (like standard steel plates or gases) to hedge against price volatility.
· Price Negotiation: Negotiating basic prices, payment terms, freight charges, and delivery timelines to minimize procurement costs.
· Purchase Order (PO) Creation: Generating accurate POs with precise technical clauses, testing requirements, and commercial terms using ERP software · Material Test Certificates (MTC): Ensuring all structural materials come with proper NABL-accredited Mill Test Certificates ensuring traceability (heat numbers, chemical composition, mechanical properties).
· Third-Party Inspection (TPI): Coordinating with quality control (QC) teams and external inspection agencies (like TUV, BV, or IRS) for pre-dispatch inspection at vendor locations, especially for defense, nuclear, or heavy structural projects.
