Kitchen Steward – Job Description
A kitchen steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen and dishwashing areas. They support chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring all utensils, equipment, and workspaces are clean and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans efficiently
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment
- Dispose of garbage and maintain waste areas properly
- Ensure proper storage of cleaned items
- Assist with basic food preparation (if required)
- Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times
- Support kitchen staff during busy hours
Skills & Requirements
- Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina (standing long hours, lifting items)
- Teamwork and good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or holidays
