Job Description – Electrical Draftsman
Renewable Energy Projects (Solar, Wind & BESS)
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Draftsman to prepare electrical
drawings and layouts for Renewable Energy Projects including Solar Power Plants, Wind
Energy Projects, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The candidate will support
the engineering and execution team by developing accurate technical drawings, single line
diagrams (SLD), cable layouts, panel drawings, earthing layouts, and as-built
documentation as per project requirements and applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings for Solar, Wind, and BESS projects using AutoCAD
and related drafting software.
o Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
o Cable routing layouts
o Earthing & Lightning Protection layouts
o Equipment GA drawings, Black level equipment layout
o Panel GA & schematic drawings
o AC/DC cable schedules
o Inverter and transformer layouts
o Switchyard & substation drawings
o SCADA and communication layouts
- Coordinate with Electrical Design Engineers and Site Teams for drawing updates and revisions.
- Prepare as-built drawings based on site execution changes.
- Ensure drawings comply with IEC, IS, CEA, and client standards.
- Maintain proper drawing records, revision history, and document control.
- Support project execution, commissioning, and tendering teams with required technical drawings.
- Review vendor drawings and incorporate approved changes into final drawings.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and SCADA teams for multidisciplinary drawing integration.
- Prepare BOQ, Cable length, Cable tray
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical drafting and detailing.
oProficiency in: AutoCAD, MS Office, Drafting standards and documentation,
oUnderstanding of: Solar PV systems, Wind power electrical systems, Battery Energy
Storage Systems (BESS), HT/LT systems, Earthing & Lightning systems
- Ability to read and understand electrical engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Knowledge of site execution requirements and as-built documentation preferred.
Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Draftsman ship
Experience Required
- 2 to 6 Years of experience in electrical drafting for Renewable Energy / EPC Projects.
- Experience in Solar, Wind, or BESS projects preferred.
