Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Databricks Solution Architect with strong pre-sales and data platform architecture expertise. The role involves designing modern data solutions, supporting client engagements, and driving solutioning activities across enterprise data transformation programs.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in cloud data platforms, Databricks Lakehouse architecture, and customer-facing solution design.
Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Sales & Solutioning
- Lead technical discovery sessions with clients to understand business and technical requirements
- Design end-to-end data platform architectures and modernization roadmaps
- Develop solution proposals including architecture diagrams, effort estimates, assumptions, and risks
- Support RFP/RFQ responses in collaboration with sales and delivery teams
- Conduct POCs and proof-of-value engagements, including scope definition and success criteria
- Deliver technical presentations and workshops for stakeholders, including senior leadership
Databricks & Data Architecture
- Design and implement solutions using Databricks Lakehouse platform
- Work with batch, streaming, and near real-time data processing patterns
- Define data architecture using Delta Lake and Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) frameworks
- Implement data governance using Unity Catalog
- Architect scalable data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines
- Optimize performance, scalability, security, and cost efficiency
Cloud & Platform Engineering
- Design cloud-native data architectures on Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Integrate Databricks with BI tools, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise systems
- Define data platform security, compliance, and operational best practices
- Contribute to modernization initiatives (e.g., legacy data warehouse to Lakehouse)
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to define solution outcomes
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Present architecture decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences
- Support reusable solution assets and reference architectures
Required Skills & Experience
- 12–18 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or cloud platforms
- 7–10+ years in solution architecture or data architecture roles
- 5+ years of experience in customer-facing pre-sales or solutioning roles
- Strong experience with Databricks Lakehouse platform
- Hands-on expertise in Apache Spark (batch and streaming)
- Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Medallion architecture
- Cloud experience in Azure, AWS, or GCP data services
- Experience in RFPs, proposals, solution design, and POC execution
- Strong understanding of data platform modernization projects
- Proficiency in SQL and Python (Scala is a plus)
Preferred Skills
- Experience in AI/ML or MLOps-enabled data platforms
- Exposure to large-scale modernization programs (e.g., Hadoop to Databricks, EDW modernization)
- Domain experience in BFSI, Insurance, Retail, Healthcare, or Telecom
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps for data platforms
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF)
- Cloud cost optimization (FinOps) knowledge is an advantage
Experience:
- data engineering: 10 years (Preferred)
