About the Role
Vartika Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals is looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead our potassium hexanoate manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of the neutralization/esterification-based production process, batch reaction control, and downstream purification for potassium salts of fatty/carboxylic acids, along with strong leadership skills to manage plant operations, quality, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and optimize the end-to-end production process of potassium hexanoate, ensuring consistent yield, purity, and quality standards
- Oversee batch reaction control (neutralization of hexanoic acid with potassium hydroxide/carbonate), crystallization, filtration, drying, and packaging stages
- Monitor and control critical process parameters (temperature, pH, reaction time, concentration) to meet product specifications
- Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, and relevant chemical/pharma regulatory standards
- Manage production schedules, raw material planning, and inventory of key inputs (hexanoic acid, KOH/K2CO3, solvents)
- Lead troubleshooting of process deviations, batch failures, and equipment issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve yield, and lower production costs
- Ensure workplace safety, including handling of corrosive/reactive chemicals, and enforce EHS protocols
- Supervise, train, and evaluate shift supervisors and production staff
- Coordinate with QA/QC, R&D, and maintenance teams for process validation and equipment upkeep
- Maintain accurate production records, batch manufacturing records (BMRs), and regulatory documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, or B.Sc/M.Sc. in Chemistry (Industrial/Applied Chemistry preferred)
- Proven experience specifically in potassium hexanoate, potassium salts of carboxylic acids, or similar fatty acid/organic salt manufacturing
- Strong understanding of neutralization reactions, crystallization, filtration, and drying operations
- Familiarity with batch process equipment: reactors, centrifuges, dryers, filtration systems
- Working knowledge of GMP, ISO 9001, and chemical safety regulations
- Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in production planning and MIS/ERP reporting tools
Preferred
- Experience working in a pharma-grade or food-grade chemical manufacturing environment
- Exposure to preservative/chemical intermediate manufacturing
Salary: Negotiable, based on experience
Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
