Job Summary
The Machine Shop Supervisor oversees daily machining operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, safety procedures, and maintenance activities are achieved efficiently. The role involves supervising machinists, CNC operators, and shop-floor personnel while coordinating with production, quality, and maintenance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day machine shop operations.
- Plan and allocate manpower, machines, and materials.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Supervise CNC/VMC/lathe/milling/grinding operations.
- Optimize machine utilization and reduce downtime.
- Ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed.
- Maintain workplace safety and housekeeping standards (5S).
- Train and guide operators and technicians.
- Troubleshoot machining and process-related issues.
- Monitor tooling requirements and inventory.
- Prepare production reports and shift summaries.
- Coordinate with design, quality, and production planning teams.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and ISO/safety standards.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of machining processes and shop-floor operations.
- Experience with CNC machines, conventional machines, and tooling.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of production planning and quality control.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5–10 years of machine shop/manufacturing experience.
- Prior supervisory or team-handling experience preferred.
Working Conditions

- Rotational shifts may be required.
