ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a high-performing and empathetic Senior Academic Counsellor with a proven track record in the education sector. In this role, you will serve as the core bridge between aspiring students, working professionals, and their career milestones.
You will guide prospects through specialized course offerings, map their individual career goals, and assist them in making informed decisions about their academic and professional path. As a senior member of the admissions team, you will also play an instrumental role in optimizing lead pipeline conversions, setting strategic benchmarks, and mentoring junior counselors to elevate overall team outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Counseling & Conversions: Conduct highly consultative, detailed telephonic or virtual counseling sessions with prospective candidates to evaluate their professional backgrounds, identify skills gaps, and align them with ideal program choices.
Lead Pipeline Management: Systematically manage, track, and nurture inbound prospective leads routed through various digital marketing channels to ensure high conversion rates and prompt, structured follow ups.
Target Achievement: Consistently meet or exceed individual monthly and quarterly enrollment goals while actively driving standard operational metrics within the team.
Mentorship & Leadership: Guide, support, and mentor junior academic counselors by leading by example, sharing strategic pitching insights, handling complex student inquiries, and cultivating robust objection-handling methodologies.
Market Insight: Stay consistently updated on current industry hiring trends, competitive academic offerings, and shifting target demographics to deliver actionable product and messaging updates to the marketing and management teams.
Communication Excellence: Exceptional verbal and written command of language, with an innate ability to build professional rapport swiftly and clear up candidate doubts with deep patience and clarity.
Consultative Sales Acumen: Strong pipeline-closing capabilities with a verified focus on problem-solving and proactive counseling over aggressive, hard-sell techniques.
CRM Proficiency: Hands-on technical comfort utilizing enterprise CRM systems (e.g., LeadSquared, HubSpot, Salesforce), shared tracking sheets, and instant business messaging interfaces like the WhatsApp Business API.
Analytical Skillset: Proven capability to examine lead movement patterns, diagnose funnel blockages, and contribute constructive ideas to advance team performance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Mandatory Eligibility: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of core professional experience in Academic Counseling, Tele-sales, or Inside Sales specifically within the EdTech, Higher Education, or Upskilling sectors.
