UKG is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise storage infrastructure and a passion for reliability, automation, and scale. As a member of our Private Cloud Storage team, you will design, implement, and manage on-premises storage platforms across both VMware and OpenStack environments, supporting UKG’s SaaS platform at enterprise scale. You will partner with engineering and operations teams to build robust, automated, and compliant storage solutions that meet the demands of a complex, multi-datacenter environment. Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage on-premises storage infrastructure solutions supporting UKG’s SaaS platform across VMware and OpenStack environments
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of storage services through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and risk mitigation
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) practices for storage provisioning and lifecycle management
- Implement and manage automation tooling to streamline storage operations, provisioning, and incident response
- Monitor and optimize storage infrastructure performance, availability, and cost
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for storage systems
- Provide standardized tools, procedures, and solutions for resource provisioning across the environment
- Document all infrastructure setups, including runbooks and architecture diagrams for existing and new deployments
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and drive adherence to IT best practices for risk mitigation and capacity planning
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience managing large-scale storage infrastructure in an enterprise environment
- 5+ years of experience building or configuring on-premises storage appliances
- Strong knowledge of iSCSI and Fibre Channel (FC) storage protocols
- Strong knowledge of Dell, HP, or NetApp SAN, NAS, and Object storage platforms
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash, with demonstrated ability to automate infrastructure management tasks
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Terraform
- Experience with monitoring platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) and centralized logging solutions such as Splunk
- Strong understanding of cloud and on-premises security best practices
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins and GitHub
- Familiarity with infrastructure test automation and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Availability for rotational on-call support as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments
- Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, FedRAMP, HIPAA, GDPR)
- Experience with distributed version control and GitOps practices using tools such as Git
