Position Summary:
The Floor Duty Medical Officer is responsible for managing admitted patients in wards and ensuring continuous inpatient care under consultant supervision.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:1️ Inpatient Management
- Conduct daily ward rounds.
- Monitor vital signs and patient progress.
- Implement consultant treatment plans.
- Write daily progress notes.
2️ Treatment & Procedures
- Prescribe medications as per consultant advice.
- Perform minor procedures (IV line, catheterization, Ryle’s tube insertion, wound dressing).
- Manage patient emergencies in wards.
3️ Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, nurses, pharmacy, lab, and other departments.
- Arrange investigations and follow-ups.
- Inform consultants about any change in patient condition.
4️ Documentation
- Maintain case sheets properly.
- Prepare discharge summaries.
- Ensure consent forms are signed and documented.
5️ Patient & Attender Communication
- Explain treatment plans and progress updates.
- Address patient/attender queries politely.
6️ Compliance & Quality
- Follow hospital policies and protocols.
- Maintain infection control standards.
- Participate in audits and clinical meetings.
Qualification Requirements (For Both Posts)
- MBBS with valid State Medical Council Registration.
- BLS/ACLS certification preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years hospital experience preferred.
