UMEED has been working with women from low-income communities of Hyderabad since 2014. With our strong ground level experience, we have developed a deep understanding to create sustainable interventions for empowering women. One of our interventions, FirstLeap aims to increase the economic participation of women by helping them become job ready and placing them in entry level jobs. By means of our 3-bucket focus on skill building, mindset development and access to exposure, we aim to build the spirit of ‘Voice, Choice and Agency’ in women who will not only be empowered to take charge of their own lives, but will also become proactive catalysts of a sustainable continuation of these values to their communities.
About the Role
The Lead HR is a strategic partner and advocate for employee engagement, development, and organizational culture. You will play a critical role in shaping HR practices and policies that align with UMEED's mission. You will ensure that our HR strategies support the growth and development of our staff, fostering a positive work environment that encourages productivity and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement HR processes and policies that align with the organization's mission and goals.
Ensure compliance with labor laws and update HR policies and the employee handbook.
Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract, hire and retain qualified candidates.
Manage the onboarding process to ensure a smooth integration for new hires.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, including salary disbursements, leave management, tax deductions, and benefits administration.
Address employee grievances and resolve conflicts to foster a positive work environment.
Develop and manage performance appraisal systems to drive high performance.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and increase retention.
Collect and analyze HR data to inform strategic decisions and prepare reports for senior management.
Preserve and uphold the company's cultural values and principles.
You’ll be a good fit if you
Have a strong understanding of HR practices and labor laws in India.
Are passionate about gender equality and its impact on Indian communities.
Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR role (recruitment, payroll, policy management, employee relations, and performance management.) (Work Experience in NGO is Mandatory)
Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Can speak and write fluently in English and have good presentation skills.
Are proactive, detail-oriented, and able to operate with minimal guidance.
