The Senior Supply Chain Manager will orchestrate the end-to-end supply chain ecosystem for our ice cream manufacturing operations. This critical leadership role encompasses strategic sourcing of high-quality ingredients, robust production scheduling, multi-temperature warehousing, and cold-chain logistics management. The ideal candidate will safeguard product quality from farm to freezer, optimize operational costs, and build a resilient logistics network capable of supporting aggressive regional and national market scaling.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cold Chain Logistics & Distribution Management
- End-to-End Cold Chain Integrity: Establish, monitor, and enforce stringent temperature-controlled protocols across all transit routes, primary hubs, and cold storage depots to eliminate thermal shock and product degradation.
- Logistics Network Optimization: Lead RFP processes and negotiate SLAs with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, cold-chain transport fleets, and reefer operators to guarantee distribution uptime and optimize per-crate transport costs.
- Depot Management: Oversee operations across primary factory cold rooms and regional distribution depots, ensuring flawless inventory rotation using FIFO/FEFO (First Expired, First Out) frameworks.
2. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
- Commodity & Raw Material Sourcing: Develop and execute procurement strategies for high-volatility raw materials (e.g., fresh dairy, milk solids, specialized fats, sugar, fruits, and stabilizers), establishing multi-vendor fallback networks.
- Packaging Procurement: Secure robust supply pipelines for primary packaging (cups, cones, tubs) and secondary insulated corrugated materials that comply with food safety standards.
- Vendor Performance Management: Formulate a vendor scorecard system to measure suppliers on quality compliance, lead-time reliability, and cost-competitiveness.
3. Production Planning & Demand Forecasting
- S&OP Leadership: Drive the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, aligning sales forecasts with manufacturing capacity to mitigate seasonal demand spikes (e.g., peak summer volumes).
- Capacity & Inventory Balancing: Optimize working capital by managing raw material safety stock margins against finished goods storage capacities to avoid factory choke points or stock-outs.
4. Compliance, Quality & Technology Integration
- Food Safety Regulatory Compliance: Align all supply chain workflows with global food safety standards (FSSAI, HACCP, and ISO 22000), particularly concerning allergen segregation and cold-chain traceability.
- Tech Stack Automation: Spearhead the deployment of real-time cold-chain IoT tracking software, warehouse management systems (WMS), and ERP automation tools to gain granular visibility into stock levels and transit temperatures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with a minimum of 4–5 years in a senior leadership capacity strictly within the Dairy, Ice Cream, Frozen Foods, or highly perishable FMCG sectors.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA from a premier institute or specialized certifications (APICS CSCP/CPIM, Lean Six Sigma) is highly preferred.
- Cold Chain Expertise: In-depth technical knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, reefer truck monitoring, cold-room layout optimization, and blast-freezing transit workflows.
- Strategic Negotiation: Proven track record of managing multi-crore vendor procurement budgets and successfully structuring complex long-term contract frameworks.
- Analytical Rigor: Exceptional data-driven decision-making capability, featuring advanced proficiency in ERP platforms (SAP/Oracle) and BI reporting tools.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Cold Chain Compliance: Percentage of shipments maintained strictly within target sub-zero temperature parameters (Target: $>99.5\%$).
- On-Time In-Full (OTIF): Fulfillment accuracy score for distribution to regional depots, distributors, and quick-commerce dark stores.
- Inventory Days on Hand (DOH): Optimization of inventory turn rates for raw ingredients and volatile finished goods.
- Supply Chain Cost as a % of Revenue: Total cost reduction achieved across procurement, transport, and warehousing lines without compromising quality.
Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
Experience:
- Supply chain: 8 years (Required)
Work Location: In person
