JOB DESCRIPTION – LABELLING ENGINEER Position Department Location Experience Labelling Engineer Engineering / Production / Packaging Development ____________________________ 2–5 Years Industry Job Summary Packaging / Labels / FMCG / Personal Care / Cosmetics Looking for a technically skilled and detail-oriented Labelling Engineer to manage the development, engineering, production support, and quality aspects of labels and labelling solutions. The role involves coordination with customers, artwork/design, production, quality, procurement and suppliers. Key Responsibilities Develop and engineer labels based on customer and product requirements. Understand label constructions, substrates, adhesives, coatings, laminations, inks and printing technologies. Recommend suitable materials and label structures based on application requirements. Review label dimensions, tolerances, application methods and technical specifications. Review customer artwork for technical feasibility and production requirements. Coordinate with artwork/pre-press teams for print-ready files and technical approvals. Support production trials, first-off samples and troubleshooting of printing, die-cutting, lamination, adhesive and registration issues. Ensure finished labels comply with approved specifications and customer requirements. Coordinate testing of substrates, adhesives, inks, coatings and finished labels. Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes and implement CAPA. Coordinate with customers, suppliers, Sales/Business Development, Production and Quality teams. Support cost reduction, material optimization, wastage reduction and process improvement initiatives. Evaluate new substrates, adhesives, printing technologies and finishing techniques. Maintain technical specifications, drawings, SOPs and project documentation. Required Technical Skills Knowledge of self-adhesive/pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, wrap-around labels and other labelling formats. Knowledge of paper, BOPP, PET, PE, PP and specialty films. Understanding of flexographic, rotogravure, digital and screen printing. Knowledge of die-cutting, lamination, varnishing, hot foil stamping, embossing and finishing processes. Understanding of colour management, print quality, barcode and QR-code requirements. Ability to read technical drawings and specifications. Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Printing Technology, Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Polymer Technology or a related field. 2–5 years of experience in labelling, printing, packaging or converting industries. Experience with FMCG, personal care, cosmetics, food, pharmaceutical or consumer-product packaging is an advantage.Key Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
