ROLE SUMMARY
The Associate Professional Middleware Engineer specializing in Camunda is responsible for managing and optimizing the enterprise Business Process Management (BPM) platform. This role supports workflow automation, process orchestration, and decision management capabilities across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deploy, configure, and manage Camunda BPM platform (Camunda 7/8) for enterprise workflow automation
- Design and implement BPMN 2.0 process models, DMN decision tables, and CMMN case models
- Integrate Camunda workflows with enterprise systems via REST APIs, messaging queues, and microservices
- Monitor process instance execution, handle incidents, and manage process versioning and migrations
- Optimize Camunda engine performance including database tuning, history cleanup, and job executor configuration
- Collaborate with business analysts and developers to translate business processes into executable workflows
- Administer Camunda web applications (Tasklist, Cockpit, Optimize) and user/role configurations
- Maintain documentation of process models, decision logic, and deployment procedures
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 7-10 years of middleware/integration experience with 3+ years of hands-on Camunda BPM experience
- Proficiency in BPMN 2.0 process modeling and Camunda Modeler
- Experience with Camunda REST API, Java/Spring Boot integration, and external task patterns
- Knowledge of DMN (Decision Model and Notation) for business rule externalization
- Strong SQL skills for Camunda database management (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven workflows
- Unix/Linux proficiency and scripting skills
GOOD TO HAVE
- Experience with Camunda 8 (Zeebe) cloud-native workflow engine
- Knowledge of Kafka or RabbitMQ integration with Camunda for event-driven orchestration
- Exposure to low-code process automation tools (Appian, PEGA)
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems
- Camunda Certified Engineer certification is preferred
