Job Summary:
The HR Head – Labour Welfare is responsible for promoting employee well-being, ensuring statutory compliance under labour welfare legislations, and maintaining a positive and productive work environment in the manufacturing unit. This role focuses on implementing welfare programs, enhancing worker engagement, and ensuring fair labour practices while aligning with organizational goals and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor labour welfare policies and programs to improve employee satisfaction and productivity.
- Ensure statutory compliance with all applicable labour laws including the Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Contract Labour Act, Payment of Wages Act, ESI, PF, and others.
- Supervise and maintain records related to health, safety, welfare, and working conditions of factory workers.
- Liaise with government officials, labour inspectors, and local authorities for inspections and statutory obligations.
- Handle grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution between management and workers.
- Conduct regular employee welfare activities such as health check-ups, safety training, canteen facilities, housing, and recreation programs.
- Lead initiatives for employee engagement, motivation, and retention of the labour workforce.
- Monitor contract labour management to ensure compliance and welfare standards.
- Conduct orientation and awareness programs on employee rights, safety measures, and company policies.
- Collaborate with production and safety departments to promote a safe and inclusive workplace culture.
- Prepare and maintain statutory registers, returns, and welfare reports as required by law.
- Drive continuous improvement in HR practices related to workforce well-being, communication, and workplace harmony.
Employer Requirements:Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work / Labour Welfare / Human Resource Management / Industrial Relations.
- Master’s Degree in Labour Welfare, HR, or Social Work (MSW / MLS / MLW) preferred.
- Must be recognized as a Welfare Officer under the Factories Act (if applicable).
Experience:
- 10–15 years of experience in HR, Labour Welfare, or Industrial Relations within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven track record in handling large workforces and labour welfare initiatives.
Technical & Functional Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of labour and industrial laws and statutory compliance.
- Strong understanding of factory operations, labour management, and time office systems.
- Experience in employee welfare schemes, safety, and social security measures.
- Excellent in grievance handling, communication, and record-keeping.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS/ERP systems.
