SmartOz is looking for a skilled, confident, and motivated Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should have strong accounting knowledge, excellent English communication skills, and be comfortable speaking with clients professionally over calls and emails.
This role involves handling accounting tasks, invoice management, client communication, invoice follow-ups/chasing payments, and supporting general administrative responsibilities. Experience with accounting software such as Xero will be highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage bookkeeping and accounting records for clients
- Create and manage invoices, receipts, and financial documents
- Follow up with clients for outstanding invoices and payment collections (invoice chasing is mandatory)
- Make client calls regarding overdue invoices and account-related matters
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain and review the general ledger
- Assist in preparation of BAS, IAS, and financial reports
- Support payroll processing and maintain payroll records
- Communicate with clients confidently in professional English
- Respond to client queries related to invoices, payments, and accounts
- Work with accounting software such as Xero and Microsoft Excel
- Handle administrative and coordination tasks as required
- Support the team with day-to-day office and admin responsibilities
Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of accounting experience
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills are mandatory
- Comfortable speaking with clients over phone calls regarding invoices and payments
- Experience in invoice follow-ups/payment chasing is required
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Experience with Xero or other accounting software (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to create invoices and maintain financial records
- Open and flexible to take on administrative responsibilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA Inter / CPA (preferred)
- Experience working with international or Australian clients
- Experience with Xero accounting software
