Shift Supervisor – Manufacturing (Wires & Cables)
Job purpose
To supervise and control production activities during the assigned shift, ensuring safe, timely, and quality-oriented manufacturing of wires and cables while meeting production targets and maintaining discipline on the shop floor. The role also supports shift handover, coordination with maintenance/quality/stores, and adherence to company policies and statutory safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise shop-floor operations during the shift and ensure production targets are achieved.
- Allocate work to operators/helpers based on manpower availability and machine status.
- Monitor machine running, material usage, output, and downtime.
- Ensure product quality, reduce rejections, and coordinate with the quality team for corrective action.
- Maintain discipline, attendance, safety, and housekeeping in the shift.
- Identify breakdowns, process issues, and material shortages, and escalate them promptly.
- Coordinate with maintenance for machine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance support.
- Prepare shift reports, production logs, rejection reports, and handover notes.
- Ensure compliance with company rules, safety procedures, and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or related field.
- Experience in wire and cable manufacturing or similar continuous production environment.
- Good knowledge of extrusion, drawing, bunching, armoring, or cable making operations preferred.
- Ability to lead a team, solve problems quickly, and work in shift timings.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and record maintenance.
