# Job Description – Senior Design Engineer (HVAC) **Position:** Senior Design Engineer – HVAC **Industry:** HVAC Contracting **Location:** Chennai **Employment Type:** Full-Time **Experience:** 5–8 Years **Qualification:** B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering ## Job Summary We are looking for a highly skilled **Senior Design Engineer – HVAC** to join our team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in designing HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. The candidate will be responsible for preparing HVAC designs, technical submittals, BOQs, and coordinating with consultants, clients, and project execution teams to ensure timely and quality project delivery. ## Key Responsibilities * Design HVAC systems based on project requirements and applicable standards. * Perform cooling and heating load calculations. * Prepare HVAC layouts, ducting layouts, piping layouts, and ventilation system designs. * Design and size ductwork, chilled water piping, refrigerant piping, AHUs, FCUs, Chillers, VRF/VRV systems, and ventilation equipment. * Prepare technical data sheets (TDS), BOQs, material take-offs, equipment schedules, and technical submittals. * Develop shop drawings and as-built drawings using AutoCAD. * Review project specifications, tender documents, and consultant requirements. * Coordinate with architects, consultants, procurement teams, and site engineers. * Support project execution by resolving design-related technical issues. * Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, IS Standards, and project specifications. * Participate in client meetings, design review meetings, and consultant discussions. * Maintain design documentation and ensure timely submission of deliverables. ## Required Skills * Strong knowledge of HVAC Design and MEP Design. * Expertise in duct sizing, pipe sizing, equipment selection, and system design. * Experience with Chillers, AHU, FCU, VRF/VRV, ventilation, and exhaust systems. * Proficiency in AutoCAD. * Knowledge of HAP, Revit MEP, Elite CHVAC, or similar HVAC design software is an added advantage. * Experience in BOQ preparation, estimation support, and technical documentation. * Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills. ## Qualification * B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. ## Experience * 5–8 years of experience in HVAC design with an HVAC/MEP contracting company. ## Preferred Candidate Profile * Experience in commercial buildings, hospitals, IT parks, hotels, industrial facilities, or high-rise projects. * Immediate joiners or candidates with a notice period of up to 30 days will be preferred. * Ability to independently manage HVAC design activities for multiple projects. ## Software Knowledge * AutoCAD * HAP (Preferred) * Revit MEP (Preferred) * Elite CHVAC (Preferred) * MS Office
