We are looking for an experienced and proactive Store & Purchase Manager to oversee procurement, inventory management, and warehouse operations for our sweets and snacks manufacturing unit and retail outlets. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in purchasing food ingredients, packaging materials, and consumables, along with excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
The candidate will play a key role in ensuring uninterrupted production by maintaining optimum inventory levels while achieving cost savings through strategic purchasing.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Vendor Management
- Plan and procure raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, and other consumables based on production requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers to ensure consistent quality and competitive pricing.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and annual contracts with vendors.
- Compare quotations and ensure purchases are made at the best value without compromising quality.
- Develop alternate suppliers to reduce procurement risks.
Inventory & Store Management
- Manage the central store for raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels to prevent stock shortages and excess inventory.
- Monitor stock movement through regular physical verification and inventory audits.
- Ensure accurate inward, outward, and stock records are maintained.
- Implement FIFO/FEFO inventory practices wherever applicable.
Production Coordination
- Coordinate closely with the Production Manager to understand daily and weekly material requirements.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production delays.
- Plan procurement based on production schedules and seasonal demand.
Quality & Compliance
- Verify the quality and quantity of incoming materials before acceptance.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for food ingredients and packaging materials.
- Maintain documentation related to purchase orders, GRNs, invoices, stock registers, and supplier records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and inventory control procedures.
Cost Control & Reporting
- Monitor material consumption and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and purchase reports.
- Analyze purchasing trends and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Minimize wastage through efficient inventory management.
Team Management
- Supervise store personnel and ensure disciplined warehouse operations.
- Train staff on inventory handling, documentation, and safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the warehouse and storage areas.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in Store and Purchase Management, preferably in the food manufacturing, sweets, bakery, snacks, FMCG, or hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Experience in sourcing food ingredients, edible oils, spices, dry fruits, sugar, dairy products, packaging materials, and consumables.
- Good understanding of stock control methods such as FIFO and FEFO.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and inventory/ERP software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
