Azadi Records is looking for a passionate and culturally aware Label A&Rto identify, develop, and manage emerging talent while supporting the creative and commercial success of our artist roster. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of India’s independent music ecosystem, excellent relationship management skills, and the ability to bridge creative vision with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Scouting & Artist Discovery
- Discover and evaluate emerging artists across live venues, festivals, showcases, digital platforms and social media.
- Review demos and assess artists based on musical ability, originality, commercial potential, audience engagement, and long-term fit with the label.
- Build and maintain a strong network of managers, producers, promoters, booking agents, and industry professionals to source new talent.
- Stay actively engaged with regional and national music scenes to identify upcoming trends and opportunities.
Artist Development
- Work closely with signed artists to support their creative and career development.
- Assist in shaping artistic direction, repertoire, collaborations, and release planning.
- Coordinate writing camps, producer sessions, and creative collaborations where required.
- Provide constructive feedback throughout the songwriting and recording process while respecting each artist’s creative identity.
Project Management
- Manage recording projects from planning through delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and milestones are met.
- Coordinate with producers, recording studios, engineers, session musicians, designers, and internal teams.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure all creative assets and deliverables are submitted on schedule.
- Support release planning by coordinating with Marketing, Distribution, Brand Partnerships, Artist Management, and other internal stakeholders.
Release Strategy & Marketing Support
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop release plans for singles, EPs, albums, and collaborative projects.
- Contribute creative input towards campaign concepts, artist positioning, and promotional strategies.
- Assist in planning media opportunities, content rollouts, and promotional activities that maximise audience engagement.
Industry Relations
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with artists, artist managers, producers, promoters, publishers, booking agents, and other key industry stakeholders.
- Represent Azadi Records at showcases, conferences, networking events, and industry gatherings.
- Identify and facilitate collaboration opportunities between artists, producers, brands, and creative partners.
Market Research & Trend Analysis
- Monitor developments across the independent and commercial music landscape.
- Analyse audience behaviour, streaming trends, social media performance, and emerging genres to identify opportunities.
- Research competitor releases and market activity to support A&R and roster decisions.
Artist Support
- Act as a key point of contact for artists throughout the creative process.
- Provide guidance on project timelines, release preparation, and career development.
- Work closely with the Artist Management team to ensure smooth execution of artist projects and releases.
- Foster positive working relationships while ensuring artists receive consistent cross-functional support.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of professional experience in A&R, Artist Management, Record Labels, Talent Management, Music Publishing, or a similar role within the music and entertainment industry.
- Strong understanding of the Indian independent music ecosystem and global music trends.
- Demonstrated ability to identify commercially and creatively promising talent.
- Prior experience in artist discovery, development, project coordination, and release management.
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with artists and industry stakeholders.
- Strong project management and organisational abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple artist projects simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Comfortable attending live events, showcases, festivals, and industry networking functions.
- Existing network of artists, artist managers, producers, publishers, promoters, booking agents, and other music industry professionals.
- Knowledge of music distribution, streaming platforms, publishing, copyright, and release management.
