Summary:
As a Custom Software Engineer, a typical day involves developing tailored software solutions by designing, coding, and improving various components within systems or applications. The role requires working with modern frameworks and following agile methodologies to ensure the delivery of scalable and efficient software that meets unique business requirements. Collaboration with team members and adapting to evolving project needs are integral parts of the daily workflow, fostering innovation and continuous improvement in software development processes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain BSP for digital cockpit SoCs: Qualcomm SA8155P/SA8295P, NXP i.MX 8M/8QM, Renesas R-Car H3/V3H/S4, including boot, clock tree, and peripheral initialization.
2. Integrate display drivers for automotive-grade panels: MIPI DSI, HDMI 2.0, eDP, and Open LDI interfaces using DRM/KMS framework or QNX Screen API.
3. Develop audio BSP: I2S/TDM codec drivers, ALSA ASoC for Linux, Android audio HAL (audio hw), and multi-channel PCM stream management.
4. Configure Linux kernel (Yocto/Open Embedded) for cockpit SoC: device tree authoring, power management (DVFS, suspend/resume), and memory layout.
5. Integrate GPU drivers and configure graphics stack: OpenGL ES 3.x, Vulkan, and hardware composer (HWC2/HWC3) for multi-display cockpit rendering.
6. Implement AOSP/AAOS system image customization: vendor partition, init scripts, HAL module loading, SELinux policies, and build configuration.
7. Develop and validate bootloader integration (U-Boot, UEFI) with splash screen, fastboot, and Android Verified Boot (AVB) / secure boot.
8. Integrate connectivity stacks: BlueZ/Android BT stack, Wi-Fi (wpa supplicant), USB (USB gadget/OTG) for cockpit ECU peripheral connectivity.
9. Debug platform issues using serial console (UART), JTAG, logcat, ADB, and hardware oscilloscopes/logic analyzers.
10. Document BSP integration notes, HAL design specifications, platform configuration guides, and bring up checklists per ASPICE process
Professional & Technical Skills:
1. Must Have: Proficiency in embedded C and C++ for Linux and Android SoC BSP development on automotive cockpit platforms.
2. Must Have: Experience with Yocto Project/Open-Embedded for automotive Linux BSP build systems: meta-layer development and recipe authoring.
3. Must Have: Knowledge of Android HAL development: HIDL/AIDL interface design, HAL implementation, and vendor partition structure.
4. Must Have: Familiarity with Linux device driver development: DRM/KMS display, ALSA/ASoC audio, V4L2 camera, I2C/SPI/GPIO.
5. Must Have: Experience with AOSP build system (Soong/Ninja) and Android system image customization for automotive platforms.
6. Must Have: Understanding of display interfaces: MIPI DSI, eDP, HDMI, and their driver architecture in DRM/KMS framework.
7. Must Have: Experience with U-Boot bootloader configuration, device tree overlays, and secure boot implementation.
8. Good to Have: Experience with Qualcomm SA8xxx or NXP i.MX 8 series cockpit SoC bringup and BSP customization.
9. Good to Have: Familiarity with GPU driver integration: Adreno (Qualcomm), Vivante (NXP), or Power VR for AAOS/QNX graphics rendering.
10. Good to Have: Knowledge of QNX 8.x BSP development for safety-critical cockpit cluster or HUD display applications.
11. Good to Have: Exposure to SOME/IP and DDS middleware integration on Linux-based cockpit platforms for vehicle data access.
12. Good to Have: Understanding of FastBoot, Android Verified Boot (AVB), and DM-Verity for secure AAOS cockpit platforms.
