The Senior Staff Nurse – LDR is responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery. This role requires clinical expertise in managing normal and high-risk obstetric cases, monitoring maternal-fetal wellbeing, assisting during deliveries, and providing leadership and mentorship to junior nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide continuous nursing care to antenatal, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum patients
- Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rate, and labor progress using electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)/CTG
- Assist obstetricians during normal vaginal deliveries, instrumental deliveries, and cesarean sections
- Manage emergency obstetric situations (e.g., PPH, fetal distress, eclampsia) per hospital protocols
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and epidural/analgesia support as prescribed
- Perform initial newborn assessment, resuscitation support, and ensure immediate skin-to-skin/breastfeeding initiation
- Provide immediate postpartum recovery care and monitor for complications
Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise and mentor staff nurses, GNM/BSc nursing students, and new joiners
- Coordinate patient flow and bed management within the LDR unit
- Act as a resource person during emergencies and complicated cases
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and quality protocols (NABH/JCI as applicable)
- Participate in nursing audits, case discussions, and CME/training sessions
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely nursing documentation and patient records
- Ensure informed consent processes and patient rights are upheld
- Adhere to hospital policies, statutory/regulatory nursing standards, and ethical guidelines
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
