- Vehicle Operation & Safety: Safely driving heavy trucks (tractor-trailers, articulated vehicles) while following traffic laws, speed limits, and road safety regulations.
- Inspections & Maintenance: Performing daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking oil, tires, brakes) and conducting routine maintenance, such as refueling, to keep the vehicle in optimal condition.
- Logistics & Documentation: Maintaining accurate logbooks of driving hours (Hours of Service), fuel consumption, mileage, and cargo details to comply with regulations.
- Cargo Management: Loading and unloading cargo safely, ensuring proper weight distribution, and securing items with straps, chains, or binders to prevent shifting during transit.
- Route Planning & Time Management: Using GPS and mapping tools to plan efficient routes, monitoring traffic conditions, and adhering to strict delivery schedules.
- Reporting & Communication: Reporting mechanical defects, accidents, or traffic delays to dispatchers and updating cargo status using communication devices.
