Job Summary
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to produce precision components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules. The role requires adherence to safety practices and maintaining machine efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC turning and/or CNC milling machines as per production requirements.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, work instructions, and process sheets.
- Select and install the correct cutting tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges.
- Monitor machine performance and make approved offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
- Record production, inspection, and machine downtime details.
- Maintain cleanliness and follow 5S practices in the work area.
- Report machine abnormalities, tool wear, and quality issues to the supervisor.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear the required PPE.
- Support preventive maintenance activities as instructed.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related trade.
- 1–3 years of experience operating CNC Turning or CNC Milling machines.
- Freshers with relevant CNC training may also be considered.
Required Skills
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments and quality inspection.
- Basic understanding of CNC machine operations and tooling.
- Good attention to detail and quality awareness.
- Ability to work in shifts and as part of a team.
