The IE Manager is responsible for improving productivity, efficiency, cost control, and workflow optimization in garment manufacturing operations. The role focuses on SMV calculation, line balancing, manpower optimization, capacity planning, production improvement, and implementation of lean manufacturing techniques.
Production & Efficiency Management
- Conduct time and motion studies for garment operations.
- Calculate and maintain SMV (Standard Minute Value).
- Improve line efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor daily production performance and efficiency reports.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
Line Balancing
- Prepare line layouts for new styles.
- Balance sewing lines to achieve target output.
- Optimize operator allocation and machine utilization.
Capacity Planning
- Prepare capacity plans based on order quantity and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with production planning and merchandising teams.
Costing Support
- Support garment costing through operation breakdown and SAM analysis.
- Analyze labor cost and production feasibility.
Lean Manufacturing & Process Improvement
- Implement Lean tools such as:
- 5S
- Kaizen
- Work study
- Continuous improvement
- Reduce wastage and non-value-added activities.
Training & Development
- Train supervisors and operators on best methods and productivity improvement.
- Develop skill matrices and operator performance systems.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare MIS reports on:
- Efficiency
- DHU
- Capacity utilization
- Productivity trends
- Present improvement plans to management.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing processes.
- Expertise in:
- SMV/SAM calculation

- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering tools.
- Good analytical and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and production software.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in:
- Industrial Engineering
- Textile Engineering
- Apparel Production
- Fashion Technology
Experience
- Typically 5–12 years in garment/apparel manufacturing.
- Prior experience in IE department preferred.
