EV VEHICLE TECHNICIAN – JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: EV Vehicle Technician
Department: Service / Workshop

Job Purpose
To diagnose, service, repair, and maintain electric vehicles and their electrical/electronic systems while ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- EV Diagnosis & Inspection
- Inspect electric vehicles and identify electrical, electronic, and mechanical issues.
- Diagnose faults using EV diagnostic tools and scan equipment.
- Check battery, motor, controller, wiring, sensors, and charging systems.
- Battery & Electrical System
- Inspect and maintain high-voltage and low-voltage battery systems.
- Check battery condition, connectors, wiring, terminals, and related components.
- Diagnose charging and battery-related complaints.
- Follow proper safety procedures while handling EV battery systems.
- Motor & Controller
- Diagnose electric motor performance issues.
- Inspect motor, controller, throttle, sensors, and related electrical components.
- Replace or repair defective components as per manufacturer procedures.
- EV Service & Repair
- Perform scheduled maintenance and preventive service.
- Repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
- Check brakes, suspension, tyres, lights, switches, and other vehicle systems.
- Conduct final inspection and road/test ride after repairs.
- Troubleshooting
- Identify issues such as vehicle not starting, reduced range, charging failure, abnormal motor operation, warning lights, and electrical faults.
- Use wiring diagrams and technical information for accurate diagnosis.
- Escalate major or complex technical issues to the Workshop Manager/Technical Team.
- Job Card & Documentation
- Record customer complaints, diagnosis, repairs, and parts replaced.
- Update service records and technical reports accurately.
- Inform the Service Advisor about additional repairs or parts requirements.
- Safety & Quality
- Strictly follow EV high-voltage safety procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE and insulated tools when required.
- Ensure proper isolation of the battery/high-voltage system before carrying out relevant work.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and safety standards.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of EV electrical and electronic systems
- Basic understanding of lithium-ion battery systems
- Knowledge of electric motors and controllers
- Ability to use diagnostic tools
- Knowledge of wiring diagrams and electrical circuits
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- Strong safety awareness
- Willingness to learn new EV technologies
Qualification & Experience
Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Automobile, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Experience: 1–3 years in automobile/EV service preferred.
Freshers/EV trainees: Candidates with relevant technical qualifications and willingness to learn may be considered.
Pay: Up to ₹25,000.00 per month
