Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) Developer with a strong background in enterprise marketing technology to design, develop, and optimize end-to-end customer journeys across channels. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of overall experience in marketing automation and at least 2+ years of hands-on experience in AJO, with a prior background of 3+ years working on Adobe Campaign Classic (ACC) or Marketo.
This role requires deep technical understanding of Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) components, journey orchestration, and audience activation, along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional marketing and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Journey Design & Development
. Design, build, and optimize customer journeys using Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) for both event-driven and scheduled campaigns.
. Implement personalization, decisioning, and audience logic leveraging AEP Real-Time Customer Profile (RTCP) and Decision Management.
. Translate business requirements into scalable journey configurations, ensuring accuracy, reusability, and compliance.
Integration & Data Management
. Integrate AJO with other Adobe Experience Cloud solutions such as Adobe Real-Time CDP, Campaign, Target, and Analytics.
. Work with XDM schemas, datasets, identities, and event ingestion pipelines to ensure end-to-end data flow consistency.
. Leverage APIs, Edge Network, and data connectors for real-time triggers and external system integrations.
Testing, Optimization & Monitoring
. Conduct thorough journey testing, validation, and troubleshooting of events, audiences, and message deliveries.
. Implement monitoring and alerting for journey performance, throughput, and delivery health.
. Partner with marketing teams for A/B testing, personalization logic, and performance tuning.
Documentation & Governance
. Maintain clear documentation including journey flow diagrams, configuration specs, and integration references.
. Contribute to journey governance, ensuring adherence to privacy, consent, and opt-out frameworks.
. Support versioning, deployment standards, and process automation for repeatable execution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
. 7+ years of total experience in marketing automation / campaign orchestration platforms.
. 2+ years of recent, hands-on experience in Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO).
. 3+ years of prior experience in Adobe Campaign Classic (ACC) and/or Marketo Engage.
. Deep understanding of Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), XDM, Segments, Real-Time Customer Profile, and Data Ingestion workflows.
. Strong grasp of event-based marketing, triggered journeys, and identity management.
. Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and integration patterns with external systems.
. Working knowledge of Adobe Experience Platform Launch / Edge Network.
. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
. Experience with Adobe Decision Management, Adobe Target, or Real-Time CDP.
. Exposure to data modeling, ETL workflows, and identity stitching concepts.
. Ability to write scripts (JavaScript, Node.js, or Python) for custom integrations or automation.
. Familiarity with Git / CI-CD pipelines for journey versioning and deployment.
. Adobe Certified Expert in AJO or AEP highly desirable.
