Position Title: TM- Capex

Level: Middle Management

Reporting To: Plant Finance Head / Corporate Finance

Position Purpose

To manage and control all CAPEX-related financial activities at the plant, including CWIP accounting, fixed asset capitalization, asset verification, and financial coordination for ongoing and upcoming projects, ensuring compliance, cost control, and timely capitalization.

Strategic Responsibilities

1. CAPEX & Project Finance Management

Review, track, and control plant CAPEX proposals, approvals, and budgets.
Monitor CAPEX utilization vs. approved budgets and highlight variances.
Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Procurement, and Operations teams for CAPEX execution.
Support financial evaluation of new projects, expansions, and modifications.

2. CWIP (Capital Work-in-Progress) Accounting

Maintain accurate CWIP accounting for ongoing projects.
Ensure timely booking of project-related expenses under correct CAPEX heads.
Periodically review CWIP aging and coordinate for timely capitalization.
Prepare CWIP reports for management and corporate finance.

3. Fixed Assets Management & Physical Verification

Ensure proper capitalization of assets in compliance with accounting standards and company policy.
Coordinate and support periodic physical verification of fixed assets at the plant.
Reconcile physical verification results with books and ensure closure of gaps.
Manage asset transfers, disposals, write-offs, and impairment reviews.

Operational Responsibilities

4. Accounting, Controls & Compliance

Ensure compliance with Ind AS / Companies Act / internal SOPs for CAPEX and fixed assets.
Support internal and statutory audits related to CAPEX, CWIP, and fixed assets.
Maintain complete documentation for CAPEX approvals, vendor invoices, and asset records.
Strengthen internal controls around capital expenditure and asset accounting.

5. MIS & Reporting

Prepare and share monthly MIS reports on CAPEX, CWIP movement, and asset capitalization.
Provide financial inputs for plant reviews, project reviews, and management discussions.
Support budgeting and forecasting for CAPEX at the plant level.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

Act as a finance partner to Engineering, Projects, Procurement, Stores, and Plant Operations.
Coordinate with Corporate Finance for alignment on accounting treatments and reporting.
Support other finance-related projects and initiatives as assigned.

Education Qualification

CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) preferred.

Work Experience

8–12 years of experience in plant finance, CAPEX, or project accounting.
Exposure to plant-based finance operations is essential.

Industry to be Hired from

Prior experience in manufacturing / chemical / process industry is an added advantage.

Functional Competencies

Strong understanding of CAPEX accounting, CWIP, and fixed assets.
Knowledge of Ind AS, Companies Act, and internal control frameworks.
Ability to work closely with technical and project teams.
Analytical Skills
Strong analytical, reconciliation, and documentation skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
