The NICU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to premature, low birth weight, critically ill, and newborn infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The nurse ensures safe, compassionate, evidence-based care while collaborating with neonatologists, pediatricians, and the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates admitted to the NICU.
- Continuously monitor and assess vital signs, oxygen saturation, temperature, and neurological status.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, TPN, blood products, and feeds as prescribed.
- Operate and monitor NICU equipment such as ventilators, CPAP, incubators, radiant warmers, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, phototherapy units, and cardiac monitors.
- Assist neonatologists during procedures including intubation, umbilical line insertion, lumbar puncture, and neonatal resuscitation.
- Maintain strict infection prevention and aseptic techniques.
- Perform accurate documentation of assessments, medications, nursing interventions, and patient progress.
- Recognize early signs of deterioration and initiate emergency interventions as per hospital protocols.
Pay: ₹250,000.00 - ₹350,000.00 per year
