Role Summary
We're looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of application testing and production readiness for our trading platform. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role that spans building test suites, executing detailed functional and edge-case testing, validating APIs, and reporting production-ready results — critical to protecting a low-latency, high-stakes trading environment. The role also comes with the responsibility of mentoring a junior QA engineer.
Key Responsibilities
1. Test Strategy & Suite Design
- Prepare test suites based on application requirements and validate across devices of different sizes[1] , OS versions, and configurations.
- Design and maintain a regression test suite to safeguard existing functionality as new features ship.
- Get involved early in requirement discussions and provide feedback from a user and testability perspective.
2. Functional, Edge Case & API Testing
- Prepare detailed functional test cases along with edge cases, particularly around trading workflows, order execution, and market data scenarios.
- Conduct thorough API testing to validate request/response behavior, data accuracy, and error handling.
- Deploy the backend locally for testing purposes as needed.
3. Production Readiness & Reporting
- Prepare production-ready test reports with clear pass/fail status, severity, and supporting evidence.
- Efficiently log, triage, and track bugs through resolution, ensuring nothing critical slips into production.
- Own release sign-off by confirming builds meet quality and readiness criteria before go-live.
4. Trading Domain & Risk-Aware Testing
- Apply working knowledge of stock markets, futures & options, and trading terminology to design realistic, high-impact test scenarios.
- Test under conditions that mirror live market volatility and high-frequency usage to catch issues that only surface under load or during trading hours.
- Provide responsive, hands-on QA support during trading hours to help triage and validate fixes quickly.
5. Team Mentorship & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Mentor and manage a junior QA engineer — reviewing test cases, guiding best practices, and ensuring quality of delivery.
- Collaborate with founders and product stakeholders to translate trading and business requirements into clear, functional test plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- B.Tech / B.E / MCA or equivalent qualification.
- 5+ years of experience in manual mobile app testing.
- Proven ability to generate comprehensive test suites and execute them independently.
- Strong knowledge of mobile device limitations and fragmentation from a testing perspective (screen sizes, OS versions, performance constraints).
- Able to deploy the backend locally based on testing needs.
- Efficient at reporting bugs with clear reproduction steps, severity, and supporting evidence.
- Strong understanding of API testing and functional testing.
- Ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments with SLA-driven support during trading hours.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring junior engineers.
- Good understanding of the stock market and futures & options trading.
- Able to understand and apply trading terminology in real testing scenarios.
- Knowledge of bug tracking tools like JIRA.
- Working knowledge of SQL to verify and validate data during testing.
- Strong attention to detail with a quality-first, ownership-driven mindset.
Good to Have
- Experience in fintech, trading systems, or algorithmic trading platforms.
- Familiarity with UI automation testing for mobile devices.
- Familiarity with backend automation testing.
- Exposure to test management tools (e.g., TestRail) and API testing tools (e.g., Postman).
- Basic understanding of performance/non-functional testing concepts.
Work Environment & Expectations
- This is an on-site role based at our Ahmedabad development office.
- Must be available and responsive during Indian trading hours (9:00 AM – 3:30 PM IST) for immediate issue resolution.
- High-ownership role requiring proactive communication and accountability.
Pay: From ₹1,000,000.00 per year
