Job Summary
A Senior Civil Engineer in real estate is responsible for end-to-end execution of residential, commercial, or mixed-use development projects. The role involves overseeing construction activities, managing contractors, ensuring quality, controlling costs, and delivering projects on schedule while complying with regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Execution & Planning
- Lead execution of real estate projects (high-rise residential, villas, commercial complexes, townships)
- Develop project timelines, work schedules, and resource plans
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
2. Construction Management
- Oversee all on-site construction activities including RCC, finishing, and infrastructure works
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
- Ensure adherence to approved drawings and specifications
3. Design Coordination
- Review structural, architectural, and MEP drawings
- Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, and MEP teams
- Resolve design conflicts and ensure smooth project execution
4. Quality Control
- Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures
- Conduct site inspections and ensure work meets quality standards
- Ensure proper material testing and compliance
5. Cost Control & Billing
- Monitor project costs and optimize resource utilization
- Verify contractor bills and BOQs (Bill of Quantities)
- Track variations and manage cost escalations
6. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local building by-laws, approvals, and codes
- Coordinate with authorities for permits, inspections, and clearances
- Ensure environmental and safety regulations are followed
7. Site Supervision & Safety
- Monitor daily site activities and progress
- Ensure implementation of safety standards and practices
- Conduct safety audits and toolbox talks
8. Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
- Provide regular progress reports to management
- Handle customer/site-related technical queries (in residential projects)
9. Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor site engineers, supervisors, and technical staff
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor performance
- Ensure effective communication across teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Mandatory)
- Master’s Degree (preferred but not mandatory)
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong experience in real estate construction (high-rise preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of RCC, finishing works, and construction methodologies
- Familiarity with local building codes and RERA guidelines
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera, Excel
- Strong leadership and contractor management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
Preferred Experience
- Experience with reputed real estate developers
- Exposure to luxury residential / township projects
- Knowledge of green building practices (LEED/IGBC)
