Job Summary
Suyog Electricals Limited (SEPL Cables) is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Production Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The selected candidate will support day-to-day production operations, ensure efficient utilization of resources, maintain quality standards, and contribute to process improvement initiatives within our cable manufacturing facility.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates and early-career engineers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic industrial environment while building a strong foundation in manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Assist in planning and executing daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Coordinate with supervisors and shop-floor teams to achieve production targets.
- Monitor production activities and report any deviations, delays, or bottlenecks.
- Ensure smooth workflow and optimum utilization of manpower and machinery.
2. Process Improvement & Optimization
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and resource utilization.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in reducing production losses, downtime, and material wastage.
- Maintain process documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
3. Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and product specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
- Conduct routine inspections and support QA/QC teams in resolving quality-related issues.
- Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor production quality and help minimize defects and rework.
4. Equipment & Maintenance Coordination
- Monitor machine performance and assist in troubleshooting basic operational issues.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Support efforts to reduce machine downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
- Ensure proper machine handling and adherence to operational guidelines.
5. Inventory & Material Management
- Monitor availability of raw materials such as Copper, Aluminium, XLPE, PVC, and other insulation materials.
- Coordinate with Stores and Procurement departments to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Assist in maintaining optimum inventory levels and reducing material wastage.
- Support material tracking and consumption analysis.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Follow and promote workplace safety standards and company policies.
- Ensure proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and training programs.
- Maintain compliance with statutory, environmental, and safety regulations.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production records, logs, and operational reports.
- Update ERP systems and internal databases with accurate production data.
- Prepare daily production reports and performance summaries.
- Assist in generating productivity, efficiency, and quality-related reports.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
- Knowledge of production planning concepts and shop-floor operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is an added advantage (training can be provided).
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma concepts.
- Internship or industrial training experience in manufacturing industries.
- Basic knowledge of quality tools, production monitoring, and safety standards.
- Exposure to cable manufacturing processes will be an added advantage.
