Job Title: Consultant – Geriatric Medicine

Job Summary
The Consultant – Geriatric Medicine is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to elderly patients by diagnosing, treating, and managing age-related acute and chronic health conditions. The role focuses on improving quality of life through multidisciplinary, patient-centered care while ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic illnesses in geriatric patients.
- Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments, including physical, cognitive, functional, and psychosocial evaluations.
- Develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans for elderly patients.
- Manage age-related conditions such as dementia, osteoporosis, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and frailty.
- Coordinate care with specialists, physiotherapists, dietitians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide inpatient, outpatient (OPD), and emergency medical care as required.
- Educate patients and caregivers on disease management, medication adherence, nutrition, and healthy aging.
- Ensure accurate clinical documentation and maintain electronic medical records.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical audits.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, hospital protocols, and patient safety guidelines.
- Participate in CMEs, clinical research, and continuous medical education programs.
- Perform on-call duties and emergency coverage as per hospital roster.
Qualifications
- MBBS with MD/DNB in General Medicine
- DM/Fellowship/Certificate in Geriatric Medicine (Preferred)
- Valid NMC/State Medical Council Registration
Experience
- 2–8 years of experience in General Medicine or Geriatric Medicine in a multispecialty hospital.
- Experience in managing elderly patients with multiple comorbidities is preferred.
