Managerial Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Strategy: Define and lead the long-term cloud operations strategy, roadmap, and architecture (e.g., multi-cloud, hybrid) in alignment with overall business and technology objectives.
- Operational Excellence: Establish and enforce best practices for cloud governance, disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident management (e.g., SRE principles).
- Budget Management: Oversee the FinOps strategy, including cloud spend optimization, cost reporting, forecasting, and resource utilization across all cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships and negotiate contracts with cloud providers and third-party operational tool vendors.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Ensure reliability of mission-critical apps by meeting/exceeding SLOs & SLAs.
- Drive automation through Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) for provisioning, deployment, monitoring and scaling.
- Implement robust observability with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK and Datadog for real-time system health.
- Lead incident response, post-mortems and remediation to minimize disruptions.
- Collaborate with security teams to maintain strong cloud security posture and compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Oversee IAM strategies, conduct audits and ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities and compliance gaps.
