Position: Network Engineer L1

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor network devices, links, and services using network monitoring tools.
- Perform first-level troubleshooting for network-related incidents and service requests.
- Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 support teams as per the escalation matrix.
- Configure and support basic network devices such as switches, routers, and wireless access points under supervision.
- Perform basic VLAN, IP addressing, and port configuration tasks.
- Monitor WAN, LAN, VPN, and internet connectivity and report outages.
- Create, update, and close incident tickets while adhering to SLA requirements.
- Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for circuit-related issues and follow up until resolution.
- Perform routine health checks on network devices and report abnormalities.
- Maintain network documentation, inventory, and configuration records.
- Assist in implementing network changes during planned maintenance windows.
- Support user connectivity issues, including wired, wireless, and VPN access.
- Verify backup status of network device configurations where applicable.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), security policies, and change management processes.
- Document troubleshooting steps, root causes (when identified), and resolutions in the ticketing system.
- Participate in shift handovers and provide accurate updates on open incidents.
- Support network performance monitoring and identify potential issues proactively.
- Assist in asset management and network hardware replacement activities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational information security policies.
- Continuously develop technical skills through training and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Required Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Knowledge of routing and switching fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Fortinet, or similar networking devices.
- Basic knowledge of VPN, WLAN, and firewall concepts.
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, or Nagios.
- Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or BMC Remedy.
- Understanding of OSI model and network troubleshooting methodologies.
Soft Skills
