Role Summary
Softobiz is looking for a Senior MERN Stack Developer to join the Softobiz engineering team. You will be responsible for designing and delivering end-to-end features across our Node.js backend and React frontend, taking ownership from API design through to UI delivery.
This role is being hired to backfill a departing team member, so the ideal candidate can ramp up quickly and take over an existing area of the codebase with minimal disruption to delivery.
AI-based development is central to how the team works. We are specifically looking for someone well versed in AI-assisted development - comfortable using AI coding assistants as part of their daily workflow to design, build, test, and ship features faster and with higher quality.
Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
- Design and implement RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express, with clean, well-tested, maintainable code.
- Model data and optimize MongoDB queries for large data volumes, keeping performance and scalability in mind.
- Integrate with third-party services and internal systems, handling authentication, validation, and error management.
Frontend Development
- Build and maintain complex front-end applications using React, including state management, component testing, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate closely with product management, design, and QA to define requirements and deliver high-quality features.
AI-Assisted Development
- Use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a core part of the daily development workflow - for code generation, refactoring, review, and test creation.
- Apply AI-assisted approaches to accelerate feature delivery without compromising code quality or test coverage.
- Share learnings and best practices on AI-assisted development with the wider team.
Quality, Delivery & Operations
- Drive best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD across the codebase.
- Troubleshoot production issues and lead performance optimization efforts.
- Take end-to-end ownership of features, ensuring consistency and reliability across the full stack
