- Drive innovation in BMW//'s Mainframe Transformation journey by working alongside a talented team of mainframe and cloud experts to modernize legacy systems, accelerate cloud adoption, and deliver business-critical applications for the future.
- Collaborate effectively with global business stakeholders, architects, cloud engineers, and modernization teams across multiple geographies to ensure successful transformation outcomes.
- Actively participates in AWS transform refactoring cycles- Reviewing generated Java artifacts, identifying transformation gaps and raising findings to AWS transform team.
- Contributes to UAT and regression testing, validating functional parity between legacy mainframe outputs and modernised AWS platform results.
- Contributes to continuous improvement of AWS Transform pipeline by identifying,documenting and sharing technical observations with the AWS support and Engineering teams in a strcutured and constructive manner .
What should you bring along
Must Have
- 10-13 years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe professional with the ability to analyze and reverse-engineer mainframe application architectures, batch workflows, data lineage, database dependencies, interfaces, and external integrations to support accurate transformation planning and execution
- Capability to address systemic data translation challenges and attention to detail in validation activities - packed decimal transformation and Db2 constraint mapping.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI-driven automation across analysis, refactoring, migration, testing, validation, and documentation activities to improve transformation velocity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Strong grounding in Agile methodologies and full SDLC cycle
Must have technical skill
- Expert level proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, PL/I.
- Demonstrate deep expertise hands on experience in VSAM, CICS,IMS DB, IMS DC
- Hands on experience in one or both of the workload schedulers - Control-M ,IBM Z Workload Scheduler
- Hands on experience working on heterogenous database migrations from Mainframe Db2/ZOS to PostgreSQL.
- Exposure to AWS Transform or automated code transformation frameworks.
- Knowledge of AWS (cloud practitioner level)
- Experience working with both traditional mainframe source management tools (Endevor, Changeman) and modern Git-based repositories.
Good to have technical skills
- Certification in Blu age (L1or L2)
- Experience with Generative AI-assisted modernization tools
- Leverage GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development practices to accelerate legacy code analysis, improve understanding of complex COBOL business logic, and enhance productivity across modernization initiatives.
