A Mechanical Drafter creates detailed technical drawings, 2D/3D models, and schematics for machinery, devices, and systems using CAD software, translating engineering concepts into precise plans for manufacturing, ensuring accuracy, compliance with standards, and collaborating with engineers on design details, modifications, and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Creation: Develop detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics for components, assemblies, and equipment.
- CAD Operation: Utilize CAD software (like AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to produce digital models and finalized drawings.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and project managers to understand requirements, gather data, and refine designs.
- Documentation: Prepare complete documentation, including dimensions, materials, tolerances (GD&T), and assembly instructions.
- Review & Verification: Check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to industry standards.
- Manufacturing Support: Communicate with production teams to create layouts and assist with testing, ensuring designs translate well to manufacturing.
- File Management: Maintain electronic databases of drawings and related documents
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Strong understanding of 3D modeling and technical drawing principles.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering fundamentals.
- Problem-solving and attention to detail.
