Job Opening: Mechanical Technician – Fabrication, Procurement & Vendor Coordination
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Technician to join our growing company. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in mechanical fabrication, procurement, and vendor coordination.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the mechanical or fabrication field
- Good understanding of fabrication processes, mechanical components, and engineering drawings
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, fabricators, and internal teams
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the fabrication and assembly of company products
- Safely operate tools and equipment such as drilling machines, handheld jig saws, grinders, and other workshop tools
- Coordinate fabrication work outsourced to external vendors
- Monitor vendor progress and ensure that fabricated parts are delivered on time and as per the required specifications
- Inspect fabricated components for quality, dimensions, and workmanship
- Handle the procurement of mechanical parts, tools, materials, and other required components
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for different parts and fabrication requirements
- Obtain quotations, compare prices, negotiate with suppliers, and follow up on orders
- Maintain procurement, vendor, inventory, and fabrication-related records
- Support product development, prototyping, installation, testing, and maintenance activities as required
- The job will involve also site visits and travel
Desired Skills
- Strong hands-on mechanical and fabrication skills
- Familiarity with common workshop tools and safe working practices
- Good vendor management and negotiation abilities
- Ability to plan work, follow up regularly, and meet project deadlines
- Basic knowledge of quality inspection and measurement tools
- Responsible, organised, proactive, and willing to take ownership of assigned work
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
