Job Summary
The Transport Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the school's transportation operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely movement of students and staff. The role includes managing the transport team, maintaining the school bus fleet, ensuring statutory compliance, and delivering high standards of safety and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the school's transport department, ensuring smooth and timely bus services.
- Develop and monitor bus routes, schedules, and vehicle allocation for optimum efficiency.
- Supervise and lead transport supervisors, drivers, attendants, and support staff.
- Ensure the safety and security of students during transportation by enforcing all safety protocols and school policies.
- Monitor driver performance, attendance, grooming, and adherence to traffic rules and school regulations.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, servicing, repairs, and fitness checks of all school vehicles.
- Ensure all buses comply with RTO regulations, vehicle fitness requirements, insurance, permits, pollution certificates, and other statutory compliances.
- Maintain records related to vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, mileage, breakdowns, driver documentation, and transport expenses.
- Investigate transport-related incidents or accidents and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Coordinate with parents and school administration to address transport-related concerns and provide timely resolutions.
- Manage vendor relationships for outsourced transport services, vehicle maintenance, GPS systems, and fuel suppliers.
- Monitor GPS tracking systems and ensure adherence to assigned routes and schedules.
- Prepare transport budgets, monitor operational costs, and implement cost-control measures.
- Conduct regular training sessions for drivers and bus attendants on student safety, emergency response, first aid, and customer service.
- Ensure emergency preparedness by conducting evacuation drills and maintaining emergency equipment in all buses.
- Generate periodic MIS reports on transport operations, fleet performance, compliance, and cost analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline. A Diploma or Degree in Transport Management, Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid knowledge of transport regulations, fleet management, and school transportation operations.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in transport or fleet management.
- At least 3 years of experience managing school transportation operations is mandatory.
- Experience in handling a fleet of school buses, drivers, and transport staff.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
